GERMANY’S FAIRY TALE LANDSCAPES IN THE CITY AND COUNTRYSIDE

Once in a while I look back on photos from my visit to Germany years ago. And straightaway it feels like being transported back to those magnificent landscapes. Even more as if I was momentarily losing myself in a fairy tale. Even though I had a vague idea in my mind before arriving of what the German landscape looked like, I couldn't have anticipated the amount of natural beauty this country would have to show me. Thanks to my aunt and her family, they gave my sister and me the most grand tour, exploring so many cities and breathtaking nature sites.

While we spent most of our time in the region of Bavaria, we also ventured out to other areas of the country along the north and east. So to discover some of the colorful villages, splendid mountains and detailed architecture in Germany, scroll through the photos below! A Photo Walk through the Landscapes of Germany

Lake Eibsee

Located in the Bavarian Alps is a gorgeous aqua green lake lined with pine trees, situated at the foot of Germany's tallest mountain, Zugspitze. In addition to having a swim, you can go for a hike around the lake too. Also plenty of visitors were kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding.

Neuschwanstein Castle

Another landmark we visited, after driving along the Romantic Road (Romantische Straße), was this iconic fairy tale castle. So Schloss Neuschwanstein (meaning New Swan Stone Castle) was built in the 19th century for King Ludwig II. Additionally it's known as a source of inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Munich

Besides the numerous road trips we took exploring other parts of the country, we spent some days exploring Munich! Firstly we wandered around Marienplatz to admire the intricate architecture. Then we enjoyed a long stroll through the gardens of Nymphenburg Palace.
